Get personal guidance

Many of our undergraduate degrees are excellent preparation for professional careers, as they cover the disciplines required for the professions. Take that preparation a step further by supplementing your major with one of our pre-professional programs. As you consider your professional and graduate study options, you’ll get personal guidance from a University of New Haven adviser who will steer you to the courses that dovetail with your chosen profession.  Our advisers are also a wellspring of information on the requirements of specific schools, which can considerably smooth the application process for you.

Law or Health Professions
  • The Association of American Law Schools encourages prospective law students to major in an area that develops their comprehension, verbal expression, critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and analytical ability. All of these attributes are critical components for graduate study as well.

Accounting, Management, Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, Fire Science, English, History, Psychology, Political Science, Global Studies, Legal Studies, and Music Industry are all majors that fit the bill, as are any number of others.  The most important thing, though, is to choose a major that interests you, as you’ll naturally tend to be more motivated and able to perform your best in an area that stimulates your mind.

Our pre-professional advisers will get to know you and your aspirations and work with you to craft an academic strategy that makes the most of your abilities.  They’ll provide support, answer your questions about the field of law, and show how you can combine your academic interests with a law-related career. They are also well versed in law school admission requirements, application procedures, and curricula.

Applying to law school is a competitive process, one that students should begin preparing for during their undergraduate years. Our program will help you every step of the way.

Together, the University of New Haven and the pre-professional advising program will do everything possible to put you firmly on the path toward future success in the legal field.
